Kristen has been able to use this lance ever since she first received martial arts training and can use Lumina to enhance its might. She can also use it to control water, summoning powerful torrents capable of parting raging waves.
Common Gift. Best effect when given to Lumopolis Aurorians. Thin, delicate sheet of silver as light as feather. A favorite in Lumopolis.
Common Gift. Best effect when given to noble Aurorians. Compact, light, exquisitely sculpted silver bell believed by sophisticated folks to be a good luck charm.
Valuable Gift. Best effect when given to Lumopolis Aurorians. Lumamber packaged in gold. The primary gem of high-society Lumopolis.
Valuable Gift. Best effect when given to noble Aurorians. Rare ore that shines in different colors under different intensity of light. A present among nobles.
Though born into a noble family, she has always walked her own path, and followed her heart to become a probationary judge of Lumopolis.
Nickname: Divergent Undercurrents
Birthday: October 9
Fighting Style: Lance of the Torrents
Speaking of Kristen, my greatest impression of her is the determination in her eyes. It's so keen that you can easily pick her out in a crowd. She just exudes confidence and good upbringing all over. When I said hello, she even addressed me as "Miss Vice". It wasn't until Irridon introduced Kristen that I learned she is a probationary judge. We were talking when %s tripped over a child and splashed water on Kristen, but she didn't get mad. Instead, she disciplined the kid for running amok and made sure %s wasn't hurt, so she is very tolerant. My gut feeling tells me she will be an excellent Judge!
I was born to the Ivans in Lumopolis. My parents afforded me the most classic education for an aristocrat from childhood. My younger years were filled with a variety of training, from musical instruments, singing, dancing to etiquette, literature, and cooking. I was always going from one lesson to another. My vocal coach thought I have a great voice and would surely be a famous singer. While I could learn and apply the skills taught to me well, I didn't enjoy the cramped schedule or the repetitive work. To my parents, it was just an effort to better conform me to what a noble is supposed to be. Learning the intricate skills was meant for me to please others just like they did and become a part of the upper society.
I understand their intent and I don't hate the meticulous rules and etiquette. Just the opposite, I believe communicating with proper, elegant words could ease the mind. I only started resisting their plans after starring in a string of operas. In my youth, I was a regular on the theater stage. My parent hoped I would make a name as a child star, and I went along with that. Every performance, I'd sing the same songs from the same scores, until I slowly realized I couldn't express my true feelings that way, and that my true self is overshadowed by the character I played. Eventually, I grew tired of the "pretend life." That was when the notion to plan my own life how I wanted began to take hold in my mind.
Then, my excellent grades gained me admission into the Dawn Academy and started to study broader, more structured subjects, which opened my eyes to the many possibilities available, as well as careers I could choose. While in school, I'd resolve conflicts between fellow students so soon enough, I was practically a "mediator" to them, which filled me with unprecedented pride. My true calling didn't match the wish of a socialite mingling freely among the high society that my parents had, but it was to uphold justice with my knowledge and the law, ensuring the peace and growth of Lumopolis. Don't you think that is incredibly uplifting, %s?
After I realized my aspiration, I began actively seeking an avenue to join the Hall of Justice. Schoolmates told me that in addition to keeping up good grades, I have to pass the qualifying exam. Therefore, I studied day and night just to earn the right to get into the Hall. This time, I wouldn't be relying on my parents' status or following their wishes. Rather, it's me, Kristen, giving all I got and pursuing my own path.
Following graduation, I became a probationary judge like I hoped for, with much on-the-job guidance from Irridon. During my internship, I was often met with problems that could not be resolved strictly by the law as written. Sometimes, personal biases from parties involved in the case would make progress difficult. My work isn't going as smoothly as I imagined, but I will keep working hard! Just like a salmon would still swim against the torrent...
Hey Navigator, where do you like to go for vacations?
I'm going to see the orchestra later tonight.
Do you remember the opera ticket I gave you? It's today, so don't forget to watch it.
Every so often, I like to make sure that my spearplay is still up to standards.
I discovered a few new uses for my lance recently.
Good morning! How did you sleep last night?
I heard the birds singing this morning.
Good morning! How did you sleep last night?
I've already had three cups of coffee just this morning.
Navigator! Good afternoon!
Good afternoon. It's such a nice day, isn't it?
Today's work is finally over!
Are you asleep, Navigator?
Kristen gave you a ticket to an opera show, so you decided to watch the show at an opera house in Lumopolis...
Some nobles of Lumopolis believe that they should not interact with commoners. However, I believe this to be an entirely arrogant idea.
Umbraton is so different from Lumopolis, but I think I like it.
White Night up high.
The Eclipsites are the epitome of chaos. They have all committed some form of atrocity.
Zenas taught me how to fight. As an instructor, he is undeniably a person worthy of admiration.
Matthieu sometimes darts his eyes at me ever so suddenly. Could it be that the melody I hum has such a profound effect on him?
I like square-shaped things—they can be stacked so neatly, and this sensation is incredibly soothing!
Criminals are the most disgusting beings in the world, and that's why I wish to act in the name of justice.
The Colossus is indeed spectacular, but wouldn't one feel lonely being here all alone?
Please share some interesting stories about the Colossus with me! I will listen carefully to every word!
You have a new task for me? Huh? You just want me to stay right here? Hehe, I suppose being around you is an important job too!
I've been a little off, recently...
Justice reigns triumphant!
My lance is polished and poised.
Happy New Year. I hope that we can all reap even greater results in the coming year.
Ready and waiting!
An undercurrent is rising.
The dawn will finally come—
Let the torrent take you!
Hmm, I suddenly have nothing to do, and surprisingly feel... at a loss.
Do you look forward to me becoming stronger?
Hmm-hmm-hmm! Impromptu melodies are indeed the most beautiful and unfettered of all. No matter how many times they are sung, melodies penned on music scores are always the same.
It is thanks to this lance that I can so unswervingly punish criminals.
My family owns manors all over the world. Would you like to go on vacation with me? Ah... but only after my probationary period comes to an end, of course!
I must take special care of this lance so that it can maintain its sharpness at all times.
Water can create the most beautiful music. In the clear sound of its gentle flow, all hesitation disappears.
Sing amid the tide! Let its surging power guide every free believer to the other side of a new wave!
I can play multiple instruments, but... only as an amateur. Which do you believe to be more suitable for me, the life of a musician or a judge?
I admire your lifestyle, living free and unfettered. Perhaps one day, I can journey to the corners of the world like you.
I have great love and respect for my parents, but that doesn't mean I'm willing to live the life they arranged for me. At least for now, I have yet to regret my choice.
Although I deal with the cases in my charge according to the guidelines found in the most reliable books, I cannot solve every problem. Indeed, it seems I still have a lot to learn!
Come to think of it, I haven't been to a musical in a long time. I wonder, have there been any popular new productions lately?
Why are you staring at me? Are my clothes too unkempt...? Hmm, nothing seems to be the matter. Perhaps I really am too highly strung, please, pay me no mind.
Do you need my help? I'll need to sort out this case first, though. Please wait a moment!
Get ready for a new day! The sun is shining on your head! If you don't get up now, a bird may make a nest upon it!
Ah, this is the most relaxing time of the day. May I play some music for you?
It's so late! Is there anything urgent you wished to ask of me? Hmm? You mean... you're just hungry?
My name is Kristen, and as a probationary judge, I am in the process of learning more effective working methods every day. Of course, if any unexpected cases come up, you can also turn to me for help.
Care to test my lance's power?
My vocal trainer believes that I was gifted with a good voice and will certainly become a famous singer one day. However, I can't stand such rigid training, nor do I enjoy repetitive tunes.
When I was at the academy, I often resolved conflicts between my classmates. Gradually, I became a "mediator" in everyone's eyes.
After graduating, I succeeded in becoming a probationary judge. Although the work is more difficult than I expected, I will continue to work hard!
Water shall carry away all obstacles.
+Strong normals thanks to her Equipment; fairly impressive for a 5* Detonator
+One-of-a-kind utility for captain-swapping teams
+Extremely spammable active
+Strong synergy with water’s buff-based units [LIKE CHLOE AND FIA?]; normals can do a decent Areia impression with lots of support
-–Significant competition with Detonators who have better damage and utility, even at 5* rarity
–The captain swap archetype does not exist (yet!)
Kristen’s base kit is a near carbon-copy of Carleen’s down to the piercing normal attacks and cross-shaped chain; however, where Carleen converts and teleports, Kristen does… more damage? Oh, and if you spend your precious Paradigms to refine her, she gives insane support to the still-anemic Captain Swapping archetype. As of now, her damage and utility are largely worse than even other 5*s like Corax and FOX, even if she can output pretty respectable numbers.
With that said, you should keep an eye on her. Kristen’s current position is somewhat comparable to where Naroxel was a year ago — a decent but unspectacular unit with a highly unique combination of traits. These types of units tend to be the linchpin of specialized teams, with Naroxel becoming almost irreplaceable on meta e-tile teams that use Goldie and Jeriah. It’s likely that her value will dramatically increase over time.
