It may simply be a camera for a fledgling reporter, but Brandy can use it very proficiently to take all kinds of snapshots and find her enemies' weaknesses so she can target them.

Thinking back, Brandy did cause some panic on the Colossus for a short while after she arrived here. Her three animal assistants can often be seen nosing around the Colossus—in particular, her rat Shadow caused absolute chaos every time it made a sudden appearance. People started screaming and freaking out because they mistook it for an ordinary rat, and in the process of trying to catch Shadow, I don't even know how many cups, bowls, and plates they broke...
Of course, I'm not trying to blame Brandy—every time this happened, she apologized sincerely and compensated us for the damage... She doesn't even make that much, and she always ends up eating stale bread for a week after each incident.
Fortunately, everyone gradually became acquainted with her three assistants, and now when they see Shadow, they manage to stay calm and let it go about its business. However, this also means that when other rats appear on the Colossus, everyone mistakes them for Shadow and gives them a free pass...

Hey, hey! You wanna interview me? I'm just an average person—there's nothing newsworthy here! When did I decide to become a reporter? It all started when I was a child...
I come from a happy but very ordinary family. To put it bluntly, I grew up poor. We didn't have anything fancy at home—we didn't even have books! I could only entertain myself by reading the Umbraton tabloids my parents would sometimes bring home. Although I couldn't really understand anything related to politics or anything back then, I was fascinated by stories about famous people and entertainment gossip. In fact, I learned to read and write because I wanted to know more about those topics. I would lose myself in images of these glamorous scenes and situations, write down the names of the bigshots in the news, then secretly plan out their follow-up stories in my notebook.
Unfortunately, my parents soon came across my little notebook. They said I was wasting my time making up nonsense and obsessed with pursuing a dishonest profession—they thought that the tabloids would corrupt my fragile little mind. They took my little notebook away from me and sent me to a public school in Umbraton, hoping I would become interested in more serious subjects.
I really don't understand, though... Aren't people's lives and uninvestigated rumors serious subjects? My family wouldn't stand for me having such an open mind, but in the world of newspapers, my mind was allowed to roam free. I saw so many people like me in the news—ordinary, but at the same time, extraordinary. Their struggles for survival and happiness were real. Although they're all like raindrops on an ocean of time, their stories shall be carried upon its waves forevermore, touching the hearts of people like me more than any literary master ever could.
Things soon became even worse. The Darkover came, and our town was destroyed overnight... In those troubled times, I first had the idea of recording the tumult of this era. My parents didn't have time to worry about my education anymore. I took back my little notebook and began to conduct interviews like a real reporter.
I asked every passer-by I saw what they had experienced. When people heard what I was asking, they'd become confused or angry and start shouting at me like I was some kind of monster. Some people even thought I was deliberately trying to reopen their emotional wounds and started hitting me...
Luckily, a few people stopped in their tracks and asked why I wanted to ask such questions. Some of them told me their stories and shared their insights, for which I am to this day deeply grateful. I felt like they understood me—they understood that I had no evil intentions and wanted to capture a moment in history on paper for all of us and future generations.
In those grim days of the post-war reconstruction, although my family became even poorer, I found a hobby other than reading tabloids and jotting down gossip—taking care of small animals. I became good friends with the sparrows, pigeons, and rats that came looking for food. I envied them so much—they were so free and could sneak into even the most restricted of areas to observe everything going on around them, while I, on the other hand, existed in a state of perpetual boredom under the supervision of my parents.
My parents hoped I would learn a trade as soon as possible to support them. We had a big fight about it... I don't know where it came from, but a wave of courage rose within me. For the first time, I contradicted them: "I'm going to do whatever I want! I'll become the most famous journalist in Umbraton!" These angry words I blurted out in rage have now become my goal.
Although I'm still an intern for a relatively unknown tabloid, I know I will achieve my goal. The first step? It's to become a staff reporter, of course!
Navigator, what's your schedule looking like these days? Do you have any free time?
Is there anything left to eat on the Colossus, Navigator?
Navigator, I'm about to write a news story that will change the world!
Sorry, I got a little injured during an interview today, so I can't do my cooking shift.
Morning, Navigator!
Navigator, can you tell me what that paste they served for breakfast today was?
Good afternoon. It's so sunny on the bridge.
Navigator, have you seen Shadow?
Good evening, Navigator!
Navigator, I'm facing the biggest crisis of my life...
In order to keep her from losing her job, you agree to give Brandy another personal interview. However, her notetaking technique causes some unforeseen complications...
Umbraton has something to satisfy all appetites, whether it's social issues you're into or other matters of Aurorian interest.
Lumopolis... I don't know if they even have reporters there.
Blanche, Cinder, and Shadow are watching you!
They don't seem particularly newsworthy.
Vic is someone I really want to interview... One day I shall!
Lilica is just like me! We're both striving to pursue our dreams.
Is it true that Vice and Carleen had inclinations towards different things back when they were in school? Hmph. Fine, I'll stop asking.
I really don't understand what those leaders are thinking... They seem to live in a completely alternate world separate from reality, and they feed the younger generation nothing but lies!
Can Soroz only communicate with you? Oh... Could you do me a favor? You see, I want you to help interpret for us so I can interview it. How'd you know I was gonna ask?
Ha! There's a story in here somewhere...
Alright, this is a rare opportunity! No one to bother me, and my editor's not breathing down my neck about deadlines... It's time to finish all my work from last week!
Sorry...
Haha, I knew it!
My inspiration is flowing!
Happy New Year, Navigator. Although last year's news wasn't all good, as long as I record everything honestly and someone pays attention to it... I know that next year will be better.
I need to write this all down.
My mind feels so clear!
I understand everything now!
A-Am I finally a full-timer?
I will write down everything you do within my sight. Are you afraid? Ahahaha—Nope, I wasn't laughing.
I can write even faster now!
Alchemy Stars!
Gathering info is very important. My hatted sparrow Blanche is responsible for Lumopolis, my gray pigeon Cinder is responsible for Lower Lumopolis, and my rat Shadow is responsible for Umbraton.
You think my gear looks heavy? Ah, thank you, but I can take care of it myself. If you want to be an independent reporter, these are all indispensable allies in the field.
I know what you meant just now—you don't like it here, do you? You have a lot of ideas yet to be realized, right? Huh? Are you denying it? Really? I don't believe you.
Wow, I feel like my bag's gotten lighter all of a sudden! This should make things a lot easier... Thank you, Navigator.
Blanche found the motive, Cinder found the murder weapon, and Shadow found the witness... Yup! I already know who the killer is! The exclusive report will be out soon!
Wow, my writing speed has gone through the roof! I need to tell my editor about this right away. Hey, maybe I can even become a staff writer soon!
This is the first time anyone has ever said such kind words to me. You're not trying to bribe me, are you? Even so, I won't stop reporting truthfully about all your adventures!
I want to write an exclusive feature on you. Erm... I mean, that's what my editor asked for... I only just found out about it myself.
You... Um, actually I... Breathe, Brandy. Actually, I just wanted to ask, is it really okay for us to do this? A journalist and her interviewee?
A first-class reporter never wavers for a second, even in the middle of a war zone.
Are you curious about my bag? There are all kinds of precious leads and resources in it—priceless treasures a journalist should be proud of. Huh? You're just curious about the way it looks!?
Listen, when you're chasing a lead and your cover's about to be blown, just do what I do—lower the brim of your hat, put on some sunglasses, and button up your coat.
Was that interviewee telling the truth? Have I checked all the facts? Oh! Hi, I'm working hard, as always!
My birds go out to eat bread crumbs in the street every morning. But why do they always choose this street? This needs investigating...
Good evening. I'm preparing for tomorrow's shoot. Film: check, lens cover: check, flashbulb: check...
I don't think you'd ever struggle with something like failing to pass a probationary period, would you? Well, you should get some rest, anyway.
I'm Brandy, an intern reporter from The Daily Scoop. You're Navigator? Great, I finally get to meet you! You're the biggest treasure trove of news headlines in all of Astra!
Are you ready for this?
I first got into newspapers and magazines when I was a child. Although I was only interested in gossip columns at the time, I learned to read and write from the tabloids.
War made me realize that there's more to life than gossip. Even I don't know how I would truly define news... Can tragedies that repeat themselves every day really be called so?
My parents want me to learn a trade, but I think interviewing and writing are skills I'll be honing all my life. Hmm... It really would be better if I could become a full-time employee at my current job, though.
I've got this.
Preemptive Converter (A)
Offensive Support (A)
S
+Preemptive conversion is vital
+10% teamwide buff is conditional, but powerful
-Her Enhanced Tiles are wasted without Goldie, an otherwise subpar Converter
Brandy was the 1.5 anniversary’s Welfare… and arguably its best unit. While she’s just another 4T converter, the 6*s she released with are kind of… bad. In any event, the standard notes about 4T converters apply here, with the additional caveat that her Enhanced Tiles are largely useless. I’m glad she exists, but she’s not a particularly original or inspired design.
Note: All the 4-tile preemptive converters should be viewed as SS-tier for the purposes of 95% of the game. The SS-tier converters are all out of reach unless you whale or are patient and the 4-tile preemptive converters are all capable of handling all content together up to 80+ spire.
